Our house/home...

Our House is a very, very, very fine house

With two cats in the yard

Life used to be so hard

Now everything is easy...

Oh CSN&Y, that's what you think...

We found out quickly how hard it is to work, move, keep up with the blog AND work on the house AND get anything done by Oct 1!

I'll try to post some good updates when the dust settles a bit...

Progress!

After deciding it is much more beneficial to divide and conquer, we're finally seeing some progress.  We've even been to the grocery store... next stop laundry.  The apartment is looking emptier and the bathroom tile has been sealed and grouted (photo is before grout).

I can tell we're going to make big strides this weekened...

One Week to Go

We have no food in the house, no clean clothes and very little packed. I'm hoping that this week has a few extra days in it so we can get our act together.

Too bad we didn't train the cats to do the laundry...

Important Supplies

We might need a few more jars of these Famous Dave's pickles to power us through the bathroom renovation...

Thanks to 72 hours of hard labor by my Dad, we are now about 75% done.  We gutted down to the boards, put cement board on the floor and shower walls, green board everywhere else, got a good start on the tile.  T-4 days to get the big stuff done before attempting to move on Saturday morning!!

MIA

We are totally consumed by the bathroom remodel (aka gutting)  see photos here.

Word of the Day:

Compromise:  1 a : settlement of differences by arbitration or by consent reached by mutual concessions b : something intermediate between or blending qualities of two different things

i.e.  I'll agree to a partial shower wall if you agree to mounting sink, counter and storage on the wall instead of in a large cabinet...

more to come :)

Note to Self

Perhaps bringing the real camera to the new house would be a good idea so we don't have to preserve the memories via blackberry...

Bye Bye bathroom wall

Demo-ing is a great stress release.
After imagining what it could be, thinking and rethinking, measuring and fantacising about what to do to the bathroom, we have taken the first step.  Thanks to our trusty RealTOR, title guru, barley and hops, we finally were convinced that this is OUR house and put a few hammer like objects through the doomed wall.

First Things First

Front Porch BEFORE:
Nice beadboard ceiling,
multiple layers of outdoor carpeting,
spider webs and lots of dirt!

Front Porch AFTER:
Nice beadboard ceiling,
ONE layer of clean outdoor carpeting,
and a place to relax and escape the construction zone!

It's Official...

We're homeowners!! After searching for our first home for almost 6 months, we found a 1910 bungalow and made an offer. We were under contract August 13th and were closed by 12:30pm on September 4, 2009.
